Welcome to Wildlife Care Association (WCA)

WCA is a non-profit organization that rehabilitates injured, orphaned and sick wild animals. We do not get financial assistance from state or federal agencies; we depend on donations, grants, fundraisers, and the dedication of volunteers to continue helping animals.

Applications are being accepted for Animal Care Internship positions at Wildlife Care Association.

WCA Interns learn animal husbandry skills and basic wildlife rehabilitation, care for a diverse range of avian species, triage training (after successful completion in Nursery training) and perform limited administrative duties. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the many aspects of a Wildlife Care Center along with the treatment and care of orphaned and injured wildlife.

Internships require a 200 hour 3 month commitment at 17 hours minimum per week. This position requires some physical labor, ability to handle a demanding workload.  Applicants should be at least 18 years of age, and posses a strong personal work ethic and a high level of personal integrity.

Please email responses to wcaInterns@yahoo.com or by mail to Wildlife Care Association, Attn: Intern Coordinator, P.O. Box 680, North Highlands, CA 95660.

Home Rehabilitator: Feed and take care of wild animals in your house! You can help young and/or adult birds, mammals, and/or reptiles. This requires specific training and a lot of dedication. For application click here and email to Debbie Duvall at playinpossum@rcip.com.

Phone Volunteer: Phone volunteers are very important to WCA. They are the first people to communicate with the public when someone finds an injured or orphaned animal and leaves a message on the WCA phone line.  All it takes to be a phone volunteer is a phone, minimal training, and some spare time.

We have many shifts that currently are not covered, which means the animals may not be getting to the facility or to a rehabber in time to effectively help the animal. The best part of being a phone volunteer is that you can help local wildlife in the comfort of your own home.  If you are interested in becoming a phone volunteer, please contact Sherry @ wcaphones@yahoo.com

What if WILDLIFE CARE earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now we can!

GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.

Just go to
www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter Wildlife Care Association as the charity you want to support. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7300 in a year without anyone spending a dime! And, be sure to spread the word!
