Following are a few ways to volunteer for WCA! If you already volunteer with WCA, this page has additional ways you can help!

Phone Volunteer: Phone volunteers are very important to WCA. They are the first people to communicate with the public when someone finds an injured or orphaned animal and leaves a message on the WCA phone line.  All it takes to be a phone volunteer is a phone, minimal training, and some spare time.

We have many shifts that currently are not covered, which means the animals may not be getting to the facility or to a rehabber in time to effectively help the animal. The best part of being a phone volunteer is that you can help local wildlife in the comfort of your own home.  If you are interested in becoming a phone volunteer, please contact Sherry @ wcaphones@yahoo.com
.

Nursery Volunteer:

Volunteer hands-on with animals in our intake facility/bird nursery! Learn about local wildlife, feed and medicate birds, and have a blast. No experience is necessary, but you must be 16 years of age and willing to commit to a set schedule. Click for application and email to wcavolunteers@yahoo.com. For more information contact us at wcavolunteers@yahoo.com.

Applications are being accepted for Animal Care Internship positions at Wildlife Care Association.

WCA Interns learn animal husbandry skills and basic wildlife rehabilitation, care for a diverse range of avian species, triage training (after successful completion in Nursery training) and perform limited administrative duties. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the many aspects of a Wildlife Care Center along with the treatment and care of orphaned and injured wildlife.

Internships require a 200 hour 3 month commitment at 17 hours minimum per week. This position requires some physical labor, ability to handle a demanding workload.  Applicants should be at least 18 years of age, and posses a strong personal work ethic and a high level of personal integrity.

Please email responses to wcaInterns@yahoo.com or by mail to Wildlife Care Association, Attn: Intern Coordinator, P.O. Box 680, North Highlands, CA 95660.

Home Rehabilitator: Feed and take care of wild animals in your house! You can help young and/or adult birds, mammals, and/or reptiles. This requires specific training and a lot of dedication. For application click here and email to Debbie Duvall at playinpossum@rcip.com.

Fundraising and grant writing: Most people think that fundraising is just about asking people for money, but there are many other aspects involved. We host events, write and prepare mailings and find any way to help keep our doors open. If you are interested in grant writing or fundraising, please contact Jennifer at wcagrants@yahoo.com or wcafundraising@yahoo.com.
