Owl Release Program: With the downturn in the economy over the past several years, WCA has had to try new avenues to raise additional funds to care for the orphaned and injured wildlife brought to us.  In 2010, we piloted our Owl Release Program in which we contacted local vineyards interested in increasing their owl population for rodent control, in exhange for a donation to WCA.  In 2012 we are opening our releases to Private Property owners. Much preparation goes into a release, as we must be certain it is the proper habitat for the owl being released, and we must also be certain that there is no poison being used for rodent control. In 2010 we were able to release more than 20 owls at local vineyards including Western Screech Owls, Great-horned Owls and Barn Owls.  Six of the wineries had events open to the public and everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed them.  We are continuing the Owl Release Program in 2012. Please help support the businesses that support WCA! WCA released it's first rehabilitated owl of last season on May 10, 2011, and have released several since then.  Find Us!
